CHEATHAM COUNTY AMATEUR RADIO EMERGENCY SERVICES AT A GLANCE
The Amateur Radio Emergency Service® (ARES) consists of licensed amateurs who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment, with their local ARES leadership, for communications duty in the public service when disaster strikes.
ACTIVITIES
TRAINING CLASSES
In Person and Online
Monthly meetings held on the second Thursday at 7pm, with topics for the new ham as well as the seasoned vet. We also have special training that is of interest to the whole ham community a few times a year.
SKYWARN® SPOTTERS
in association with MTEARS
Since the program started in the 1970s, the information provided by SKYWARN® spotters, coupled with Doppler radar technology, improved satellite and other data, has enabled NWS to issue more timely and accurate warnings for tornadoes, severe thunderstorms and flash floods. SKYWARN® storm spotters are citizens who form the nation's first line of defense against severe weather.
